Do Forest School sessions run even when it it raining ?
At Forest School, we embrace the outdoors in all seasons. As the saying goes, “There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.” We encourage all participants to come dressed appropriately for the weather, as spending time outdoors in different conditions is an important part of the Forest School experience.
During periods of wet weather, shelters will be available to provide protection when needed, while still allowing us to enjoy and learn in the outdoor environment.
The safety and wellbeing of our participants is always our highest priority. In the event of a Met Office Weather Warning (such as high winds, thunderstorms, extreme heat, snow or ice) where conditions could pose a risk to safety, sessions may be postponed or cancelled. If this happens, we will notify families as soon as possible and arrange an alternative date where possible.
Please ensure your child arrives wearing suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions. A recommended clothing list will be provided before your first session..
Can I stay with my child?
During our holiday camps, we encourage parents and carers to say goodbye at the beginning of the session. This helps children to develop confidence, independence and a sense of autonomy in a safe, supportive environment. We understand that every child is unique, and we are always happy to discuss any individual needs or concerns to ensure your child feels comfortable and settled.
For our Family Forest School sessions, we ask that a parent, carer or responsible adult remains with their child throughout the session, allowing you to enjoy the experience together.
Our Adults Only sessions are designed exclusively for adults, and children are not permitted to attend these sessions.
For your peace of mind, all members of our Forest School team hold an enhanced DBS check and are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
What if I need to cancel my child’s session?
If you need to cancel your child’s session , please contact to let us know so that we know how many children to plan for. Unfortunately If you have paid for a session we will not be able to give you a refund, but we will happily reschedule the session for a future date, however sessions are currently free.
What should I do if I’m running late?
We understand that life happens, and sometimes delays are unavoidable. If you find yourself running late, we would really appreciate it if you could contact us to let us know your expected time of arrival. This helps us to plan our sessions, ensure your child can join the group safely, and make any necessary adjustments to activities.
If you are running significantly late, please get in touch as soon as possible so we can discuss the best way for your child to join the session
Where are the toilets?
Our main Forest School site is located at the rear of St John’s Church, where public toilet facilities are available for participants to use.
When sessions are held at our sister site, Queen’s Park Gardens, children will be accompanied by a member of the Forest School team to the nearby public library, where a single public toilet is available.
